1. Sourdough Artisan Bread

Sourdough bread is one of my favorite things to gift. Keep it plain or add in your favorite inclusions like jalapeno cheddar, pepperoni and cheese or chocolate. Check out my 21 mix-in ideas for inspiration.

It makes a beautiful gift on its own or you could make it into a homemade bread gift basket filled with homemade jams, jellies, a jar of flavored butter, tea towels, danish dough whisk and other specialty kitchen items.

Or if you want to gift mini sourdough loaves they also are a great option. I love with minis you can make multiple flavors at once.

Packaging ideas: Sourdough bread can be packaged in a variety of ways. One of my favorite ways is to add it to a brown paper bread bag like these or these. You can also use clear bread bags tied with a long piece of twine or ribbon and a gift tag (like the free printable below). Another option is to place it in a reusable fabric bread bag or wrapped in a tea towel that they can continue to use.

2. Charcuterie To-Go Boxes

Charcuterie to-go boxes are a great savory snack option to gift. Add in your favorite crackers like sourdough cheez-its, sourdough no-roll crackers, and sourdough goldfish with a variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, chocolate and nuts. For a festive touch cut your cheese squares with mini cookie cutters and make a pepperoni rose.

Packaging ideas: Depending on how big you want to make your charcuterie box you can find a variety of kraft boxes but I use a 9 inch to-go container or 8 x 8 inch box. You could also use a festive tin.

Packaging ideas: You can make your plates on festive paper plates or put them in a kraft box or festive tin. Or to gift just a few add the cookies to a small treat bag and tie it with a bow.

8. Sourdough Quick Breads and Muffins

Sourdough quick breads and muffins are a quick and easy gift option for neighbors and friends. From sourdough banana bread, chocolate banana bread, cranberry orange muffins, lemon poppy seed muffins, or pumpkin bread there are so many delicious options.

Packaging ideas: Wrap up a loaf in cellophane wrap and tie it with a bow for a great Christmas treat. For the muffins a cupcake box with a window is a great option.

9. Sourdough Starter

Gifting sourdough starter is the gift that keeps on giving. You can either gift an active sourdough starter or a dehydrated sourdough starter.

To gift active starter simply add anywhere from 10 to 50 grams of sourdough starter to a mason jar. I prefer to feed it right before giving it away that way they don’t have to feed it as soon as they get it. To dehydrate sourdough starter you can find all my best tips on dehydrating and rehydrating sourdough starter in my post.

Packaging ideas: For dehydrated sourdough starter I use these small packets from Amazon. You only need to gift 5-10 grams of dehydrated starter for someone to get started.
