What is sourdough?
To put it simply sourdough starter is a wild yeast that replaces commercial yeast in a recipe. It is a live fermented culture of flour and water that once it becomes active, can be used to naturally leaven breads and other baked goods. If you do not have a sourdough starter, you can learn everything you need to know here!

Naturally leavened recipes
The recipes in this roundup post that are naturally leavened with a sourdough starter take at least a day or two to rise. You’ll find flavored breads such as Hot Honey Parmesan and Asiago Sourdough Bread or flavored focaccias such as Cheeseburger Sourdough Focaccia that is topped with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, pickles and a drizzle of burger sauce. There is also a recipe for Sourdough Garlic Knots that are great for sharing at a football party and dipped in marinara sauce. Or, if you want to make your favorite sliders as a Super Bowl snack, try a homemade bread recipe such as Same Day Sourdough Dinner Rolls or Sourdough Hawaiian Rolls as your base of the sliders.

Sourdough discard recipes
These sourdough discard recipes are all quick and easy! You can bake them in the oven and have them ready by kick-off! You can find tons of discard recipes on my site, but I selected a few that would make the perfect game day or Super Bowl appetizer and dessert. You’ll find my Sourdough Cheez-it recipe, which is great all on its own or serve it with the rest of your party dips, and my Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, which makes the most ooey gooey chocolatey cookies.
